History

Skykomish Food Bank was started in 2011 by a group of committed community volunteers and supported by the Skykomish Volunteer Firemen & Skykomish Fire Department District #50.

Volunteers set up shop in the Community center, Maloney’s General Store and finally the Masonic Hall.

In 13 years, SFB has grown extensively, offering a full complement of nutritious food items (fresh, frozen, dried goods and staples) in a shopping style environment.

SFB now operates weekly, Friday 4 to 6 pm. And distributes 1500 to 2000 lbs., serving 45 to 60 (aren’t we up to 75 households and continuing to grow?) households (200 plus individuals) each week. SFB has a permanent home in the Skykomish Masonic Hall, due to the generosity of the Skykomish Masonic Lodge #259.

Skykomish Food Bank is a recognized charity in the state of Washington and with the IRS.
